Position Title: Marine Pipefitter

Reports To: Pipefitter Superintendent

Relocation Assistance will NOT be offered for this position.

Position Summary:

PSI is the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, with two of the largest dry docks in the state. We have been in business since 1944 and have a large labor force of skilled craftsmen with a full support staff of professionals including engineering, project management, QA, EHS, accounting, contracts, and human resources.

A Marine Pipefitter is capable of planning, layout, fabricating, assembling, installing, repairing, and modifying piping systems and pipe assemblies requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness on ships, boats, barges, and other floating marine equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform threading, soldering, gluing, welding, and brazing of pipe and fittings.
  • Properly use tools such as wrenches, power threading equipment, band saws, levels, and other hand tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Technical Knowledge:

  • Read and understand drawings and specifications.
  • Handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Be a team player with a good attitude.

Education, Training, and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of pipe fitting experience in the Marine Industry.
  • High school diploma or GED; completion of union journeyman's program.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints for piping systems.
  • ABS certification for welding/brazing when required.
  • Welding certifications in GMAW (Steel/Aluminum) in positions 1G, 2G, 3G, or 4G.
  • Minimum 3 years of TIG welding experience with certification preferred.
  • Ability to weld pipe supports and ensure proper piping alignment.
  • Ability to perform pipe bending with tools and machines.
  • Knowledge of shipboard piping materials and cleanliness standards.
  • Familiarity with NAVSEA Standard Items for US Navy vessels.
  • Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and shifts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Shipyard/Industrial experience is valuable.

Physical Demands:

  • Lift, carry, push/pull, bend, and squat up to 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • Varied shipyard conditions, including weather, dust, dirt, noise, and temperature extremes.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Proof of legal right to work in the U.S.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for base access clearance.
  • Ability to obtain TWIC and DBIDS credentials.
  • Pass post-offer drug screening and background check.
  • Valid Hawaii REAL ID or U.S. Passport and Driver's License.
  • Reliable transportation to work sites.
