SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Program Director oversees the operations of the programs, managing initiatives aimed at preventing and addressing programmatic needs. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and evaluating services.
The Program Director ensures referrals are promptly addressed, caseloads are managed properly, and program goals are achieved. They supervise program staff and provide direct service backup as needed.
The role involves developing and implementing programs to prevent and intervene, working closely with stakeholders such as government agencies, community organizations, and law enforcement to assess community needs and plan effective programs. The Program Director provides strategic direction and vision for the programs.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
A Master's Degree from an accredited school is required. Candidates should have knowledge of the Department of Human Services Division, relevant programming, and supervisory experience in Social Work or related fields such as PsyD, PhD, LMHC, LMFT, and LCSW. Experience working with families facing issues related to child abuse, neglect, and mental health is essential. Applicants must possess a valid Hawaii State License in good standing.
EXPERIENCE
Over four years, up to and including six years of experience. Additional requirements include over 2 years of administration and supervision, and one year of post-master's clinical work or practicum in youth mental health or educational settings.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Preference for candidates with extensive knowledge of the Department of Human Services and experience working with families within the DHS system. Must have strong organizational skills, ability to manage and lead a multi-island program staff, and willingness to travel as needed.
