Marine Operations Technician

PacMar Technologies LLC, a privately-owned defense contractor, is seeking a Marine Operations Technician. The incumbent will join a group of talented Engineers, Scientist, and Innovators with tremendous top-side potential devoted to solving novel technological problems with defense implications in the fields of Maritime Platform Design and Prototyping, Power and Energy, Autonomy and Data Science, and Advanced Materials and Manufacturing. This position is located in Honolulu, Hawaii.

General Description:
The Ideal candidate will be reliable and efficient and will provide assistance to the operations team to ensure the smooth running of our research and development group by supporting facility and field operations, running errands, and performing other tasks as required.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparation and support of prototype development, field testing and marine vehicle operations.
  • Work independently, following verbal and/or written instruction to assist in asset organization, staging and preparation for deployment and recovery of systems under development.
  • Assist with routine maintenance and repair work on marine vessels, including electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems.
  • Assist with facility operations, maintenance and record keeping.
  • Perform and track simple clerical tasks such as boat registrations and gear inventory.
  • Handle and dispose of waste materials properly and in accordance with safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by keeping the workspace organized and free of hazards, including standing Fire Watch when needed.
  • Purchasing including material ordering in support of procurement department, material pick-up and delivery
  • Assist with on the water operations. Should be comfortable working with lines and around water.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

Other Position requirements:

  • Physical ability to perform manual tasks such as lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work in an environment that may involve exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and hazardous materials
  • Employment is contingent upon successfully passing an employee background check and post-offer drug screen
  • Must be a U.S. or Permanent of the U.S. due to Export Control purposes

Desired Skills:

  • Experience working in a fabrication facility or shipyard environment
  • Boat handling experience
  • Experience in one or more trades
