    Through the acquisition of Kamakura SAS is now a major vendor of financial risk data and analytics especially with respect to credit default and market spread information that can be used by traditional banks and insurance companies to hedge their credit risks as well as by investment and pension fund managers to improve the returns on the investments they hold and trade. SAS intends to aggressively grow this business, so we are looking for data professionals to help acquire, curate, architect and manage the data environment to allow for this growth.The position includes the identification of data sources to enhance our modeling, expand our product offerings and contributes to the growth and acceptance of the product in the market. Helps manage the information by identifying optimal ways to organize, store, and secure large amounts of data both generated internally as well as from various data vendors.

    As a Sr Data Architect, you will:

    • Translate business functions into conceptual, logical and physical data models.
    • Research, identify and onboard new sources of data for modeling projects – the focus is on loan defaults in a banking book and enhanced investment returns on both fixed income and equity investments.
    • Primary lead to identify data sources for expanded financial models
    • Research and manage data access technology for internal and external data users.
    • Build data mappings for new systems and data migration projects. Implement subject area of business functions and publish the models for collaborative development.
    • Analyze databases in different aspects such as data integrity, technical debt, data model, security, availability, and performance.
    • Work with stakeholders to create a technology roadmap to fix the findings.
    • Lead strategic initiatives to design and implement highly performant, available, and integral data platforms. Capture and share best practices across data systems.
    • Design and implement distributed database solutions in AWS and Azure.
    • Incubate and influence innovative technologies to solve complex database and data processing issues that would revolutionize data management and add value to business areas.
    • Self-directed supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems, and products.
    • Analyze the needs of business requests for database services; proposes, designs, and implements complex hardware and software changes or programs to satisfy those needs.
    • Educate users of software product features and their most effective use

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree with a major or specialized courses in Information Technology or commensurate experience
    • Background in the financial services or fintech industries
    • 10+ years related experience and experience with some of the following:
      • Designing and delivering cross functional custom reporting solutions
      • Knowledge of data platforms such as Databricks, Snowflake, etc.
      • Emerging data handling technologies
      • AWS and Azure cloud services
      • Relational SQL and NoSQL databases
    • Experience identifying and onboarding new sources of data for modeling
    • Creative in identifying ways to reduce risks to avoid project delays
    • Superior ability to multi-task and manage varying priorities
    • Deomnstarted verbal and written communication skills
    • Hands-on experience in key technologies, methodologies and run POC's independently.

    • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop creative solutions
    • Experienced level of technical knowledge of the internal workings, diagnostic tools, and features of complex systems. Under general direction able to administer, manage, design, document, and evaluate a variety of database management systems.
    • Ability to perform complex technical, analytical and professional services involving evaluation of database-driven applications and problem resolution
    • Ability to research and evaluate computer applications and database server hardware and software
