Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Facilities Journeyman Technician to support facility operations at the NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) Pacific Region in Honolulu, Hawaii. This role provides essential technical services for the maintenance and functionality of building systems and infrastructure.Key Responsibilities:
Perform journeyman-level maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems.
Execute preventive and corrective maintenance tasks as scheduled.
Respond to facility service requests and support critical infrastructure.
Monitor, inspect, and test systems to ensure continuous, efficient operation.
Collaborate with the Facilities Engineering Group to document work and recommend improvements.
Adhere strictly to safety regulations and federal compliance standards.
Provide occasional travel support as required by the contract (travel reimbursable per government terms).
Required Qualifications:
3-5 years of proven experience in facilities or maintenance technician roles.
Strong technical expertise in building systems such as HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
Must be able to pass a federal background check and meet government eligibility requirements.
Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and troubleshoot under pressure.
Physically fit for tasks requiring lifting, climbing, and confined-space entry.
Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Recognized journeyman certification or equivalent licensure in a building trade.
Experience with federal facilities or government contracting.
OSHA 10 or 30 certification is a plus.
Work Conditions:
Work is performed on-site at NOAA facilities in Honolulu, HI.
Tasks may require both indoor and outdoor work in various environmental conditions.
Some travel may be required and is covered under the contract terms.
