Teach assigned courses in the discipline. Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught. Provide instruction and guidance to meet student learning objectives, prepare course syllabus and reports related to teaching and student progress. Work under supervision of discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area. Student and peer evaluations and self-assessment of teaching effectiveness are required. Commitment to community college principles and philosophy is essential. Possible evening, weekend, and off-campus assignments, including military bases; also, distance learning assignments for courses taught via the Internet. For some teaching fields, openings may only be available for classes offered on military bases or taught via the Internet. To teach on a military base, Department of Defense security clearance will be required. May require background check to teach at DOE school.
