Basic Function

The Director of Operations supports all operations departments in the guidance, organization, planning and execution of the overall park operations. These departments include Aquatics, First Aid, Housekeeping, Security and Maintenance. This is all done while maintaining the highest safety and guest service standards on all water attractions and in the general park to foster a fun, safety-conscious environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Works alongside the General Manager to carry out the overall execution of the waterpark operation.
  • Guides and supports all Operations Management along with their teams for operational excellence
  • Provides leadership development and growth to all members of the team to promote future progression.
  • Leads the park “Manager on Duty” program.
  • Provides the overall direction of the recruitment program for operations departments.
  • Works with Department Mangers to ensure and provide the overall direction and support of their teams.
  • Develops and manages financial operating budgets for all operations departments
  • Responsible for developing labor budgets and line schedules that are realistic to operational goals, guest levels, and realistic staffing levels.
  • Monitors labor schedules and adds/reduces staffing when necessary.
  • Manages and reports monthly in inventory level of all items used by Operations departments and orders when necessary.
  • Clearly describes and assigns responsibility and authority for the operation of the department.
  • Maintain relationships with park vendors, manufacturers and on-site contractors.
  • Provide effective leadership and communication to all employees .
  • Willingness to accept the most effective role at all times.

REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS, AND SKILLS:

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent is required. College degree preferred.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of lifeguarding experience
  • Minimum 4 years of Lifeguard Supervision experience
  • Minimum 4 years of Water/Theme Park Management Experience
  • Current Lifeguard Instructor License (Ellis & Associates, StarGuard ELITE, Red Cross or Equivalent)
  • Knowledge of present successful aquatic industry trends and programs
  • Proven experience in creating a positive work environment and improving employee morale.
  • Must be able to work varied shifts; including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Physical Demands of the Job:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and read, talk and hear.
  • The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, push, pull, crouch or crawl.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to twenty five pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to hundred pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth
  • perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may be exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time.
