Develop and implement comprehensive recruitment strategies to attract, select, and retain top talent for all levels of the organization, from field operations to administrative staff.
Manage the full recruitment cycle, including job posting, candidate sourcing, interviewing, and offer management.
Design and execute robust onboarding programs to ensure new hires are successfully integrated into the company culture and quickly become productive members of the team.
Oversee background checks, drug screenings, and E-Verify processes.
Compensation & Benefits:
Administer and manage all aspects of payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely execution for a diverse workforce, including seasonal and agricultural workers.
Manage employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other ancillary benefits.
Conduct market research and participate in salary surveys to ensure competitive compensation structures.
Provide guidance and support to employees and managers on a wide range of HR-related issues, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans.
Develop and implement performance management systems that align with company goals and foster employee growth and development.
Conduct internal investigations as needed, ensuring fair and consistent application of company policies.
Champion a positive and productive work environment, promoting employee engagement and morale.
HR Administration & Compliance:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records and documentation, ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws and regulations (e.g., OSHA, FLSA, EEO, CAL/OSHA for California-based companies).
Develop, update, and enforce HR policies and procedures, ensuring clear communication and consistent application.
Prepare and submit required HR reports and filings.
Oversee unemployment claims and workers' compensation administration.
Training & Development:
Identify training needs and develop or source relevant training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge, particularly in areas like food safety, agricultural practices, and leadership development.
Facilitate training sessions as needed.
Safety & Risk Management:
Collaborate with operations to ensure a safe working environment, particularly given the nature of agricultural and food production work.
Participate in safety committee meetings and initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR) preferred.
5+ years of progressive HR experience, with at least 2 years in a management role, preferably within the agricultural, food production, manufacturing, or a similarly fast-paced industry with a significant blue-collar workforce.
In-depth knowledge of federal and state labor laws and regulations, especially those pertinent to the agricultural industry.
Proven experience managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll, benefits administration, employee relations, and performance management.
Strong understanding of payroll systems and best practices. Experience with [mention specific HRIS/payroll software if applicable, e.g., ADP, Paychex, Workday] is a plus.
Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and presentation skills.
