There are two (2) vacancies with the Department of Planning and Permitting, Building Division, located in Honolulu. The Mechanical Engineer III will perform professional mechanical engineering work in reviewing and approving plans, specifications, and calculations of buildings and structures for compliance with the Plumbing Code and/or other pertinent codes or regulations.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Reviewing plans and specifications of projects, including renovations and alterations for residential and commercial buildings, involving computations and interpretations of codes.
• Issuing building permits for plumbing work upon approval of plans and specifications.
• Consulting with architects, mechanical engineers, and the public regarding Plumbing Code and other codes.

Minimum Qualifications:

• U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible non-citizen under federal law.
• Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution. Foreign degrees require evaluation and submission of credentials.
• At least two years of non-registered professional mechanical engineering experience.
