Job Summary

The Adjunct Professor of History or International Studies delivers courses in history and/or international studies, provides service to the university, plans and supervises semester activities, maintains student records, and assigns grades.

Compensation

  • MS - $3,150 per 3-credit course
  • PhD - $3,450 per 3-credit course

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in History or International Studies or related field
  • Residence on Oahu for face-to-face instruction

Desired Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in History, International Studies, or related field
  • Experience teaching university students in diverse environments

Other Qualifications

  • Legal authorization to work in the US; no visa sponsorship or relocation allowance
  • Availability to support department, possibly during winter break
  • Meet training, background check, and minor policy requirements
  • Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, insured personal vehicle
  • Ability to teach during days, evenings, weekends, at multiple locations
  • Strong time and stress management skills

Teaching (95%)

  • Develop syllabus with course activities, outcomes, and assessments
  • Deliver classes according to syllabus and university standards
  • Maintain student records and assign grades promptly
  • Incorporate content knowledge, teaching, and assessment strategies
  • Use assessment data to improve teaching effectiveness
  • Meet deadlines and follow departmental directions

Additional Duties (5%)

  • Participate actively in team activities
  • Assist during seasonal peaks
