This position is with the Department of Land and Natural Resources, Division of Forestry and Wildlife, located in Downtown, Oahu.

Salary: Level VI - $6,399.00 to $7,787.00 per month (SR-26, Step D to I). Note: Hiring rate depends on funds, qualifications, and other factors.

Role Overview

The Forester VI serves as a top-level professional authority in forestry management, developing new techniques, programs, policies, and guidelines. The role involves initiating and conducting complex analyses, proposing solutions, and making decisions impacting programs and resources. You will lead the Outdoor Recreation Section and Na Ala Hele Trails and Access Program, providing leadership, technical expertise, and policy guidance on outdoor recreation and trail management statewide.

Qualifications

1. Legal Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen, national, or eligible for unrestricted employment.
2. Education: Bachelor's degree in forestry or a related field with 15 semester hours in management of renewable resources, forest ecology/biology, and forest resource measurements and inventory.
3. Experience: Four years of professional forestry work, including management, protection, development, research, or resource planning, with at least one year at a level comparable to Level IV in the State service.
4. Supervisory Skills: Demonstrated supervisory aptitude.
5. License: Valid driver's license required.
