Stevenson Middle School is seeking a dynamic, creative, and engaging teacher to foster innovation and hands-on learning through our well-equipped Maker Space in an exploratory wheel course. This teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging lessons that integrate design thinking, problem-solving, and technology within the Maker Space. Additionally, they will introduce students to a variety of subjects and skills through an exploratory wheel format, sparking curiosity and helping them discover their interests. The ideal candidate will be passionate about empowering students to become creators, critical thinkers, and collaborators.
The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian, or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.
If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must demonstrate active pursuit of meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you enroll in aligns with your teaching line.
Upon hire, you will need a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.
