Overview:

The Housekeeping Department Specialist assists in managing Housekeeping operations, providing friendly, efficient, courteous service to guests, maximizing room productivity, and ensuring guest satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Be attentive, friendly, helpful, and courteous to guests, managers, and colleagues.
  • Prepare room assignments, conduct inspections, and schedule preventive maintenance.
  • Respond promptly and courteously to guest requests, complaints, and issues, ensuring follow-up for satisfaction.
  • Support training for new programs and operational procedures.
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline staff according to SOPs.
  • Develop employee morale and ensure proper training.
  • Maintain professional relationships and open communication with all departments.
  • Implement hotel policies and house rules.
  • Ensure staff sign off on service standards and complete training checklists.
  • Monitor oversold dates and room readiness strategies.
  • Handle escalated guest issues in housekeeping.
  • Oversee public area projects and conduct daily tours, gathering feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with training standards and assist in revenue and occupancy forecasting.
  • Support guest recognition programs and monitor expenses for profitability.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintenance standards through walk-throughs.
  • Track and return lost and found items.
  • Prepare VIP rooms and manage inventories and supplies.
  • Attend weekly Rooms Division meetings.
  • Operate housekeeping computer systems, generate reports, and analyze data.
  • Coordinate service implementation and monitor VIP guest requests.
  • Ensure overall guest satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of progressive hotel or related experience; or a 4-year degree with 1+ year experience; or a 2-year degree with 2+ years experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Proficiency in Windows, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Ability to work long hours and lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle problems proactively.
  • Attend all required meetings and maintain high personal standards.
  • Maintain confidentiality and a friendly, professional demeanor.
