Duties Summary
This position is located in the Social Services Division of the Department of Human Services. The function of the Social Services Division is to provide social services to eligible individuals and families that include child welfare services directed at protecting children who are at-risk or have been abused and neglected, and adult and community care services directed at protecting vulnerable adults.
The purpose of this position is to assist the Social Services Division (SSD) Administrator in administering statewide social services programs and related supportive services in accordance with applicable legal requirements and in collaboration with other state agencies and community-based organizations; directs and coordinates divisional program planning, budgeting, reporting, and other management functions including facilitating the work of the division. Serves as acting SSD Administrator in the absence of that position's incumbent; and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:
Legal Authorization To Work Requirement: The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Education: Graduation from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a bachelor's degree which included a minimum of twelve (12) semester credit hours in psychology, sociology, social welfare, social work, or other related coursework.
Specialized Experience: Four and one-half (4 1/2) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in a social welfare program which provided services/assistance to mentally, physically, socially, and/or economically disadvantaged/vulnerable individuals and/or families.
Supervisory Experience: Two years of work experience supervising others performing work as described under Specialized Experience above.
Administrative Experience: One year of experience which involved active participation in and major responsibility for the development, management, execution, and coordination of policies and programs.
