Position Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and people-oriented Talent Acquisition Specialist to drive our recruitment efforts and support HR operations across our Hawaiian locations. This role is pivotal in sourcing high-quality talent-particularly diesel mechanics and support staff-and serving as the key HR contact for our team in Waipahu and beyond. The ideal candidate will bring experience in both recruitment and general HR, along with a collaborative approach and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment (80%)
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for two main talent pipelines:
- 50% Diesel Mechanics (skilled trade positions)
- 50% Support Staff (sales, administrative, customer service, etc.)
- Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans, job postings, and outreach initiatives
- Screen, interview, and coordinate with hiring managers to ensure optimal hiring outcomes
- Represent the company at recruitment events, career fairs, and networking opportunities
Human Resources (20%)
- Act as the sole HR representative for all Hawaiian locations
- Support day-to-day HR functions including:
- Employee relations, investigations, and corrective actions
- Performance improvement plans and coaching
- Benefits support and employee inquiries
- Policy compliance and procedural guidance
- Partner with leadership to build a positive, compliant, and inclusive workplace
Travel Requirements
- Visit each of our outer-island branches (Hilo, Kauai, Kona, Maui) once per quarter (1 day per location)
- Travel is encouraged to foster in-person connections but is not mandatory
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of recruitment or talent acquisition experience (skilled trades recruiting a plus)
- Familiarity with HR principles and employee relations practices
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage priorities and work independently
- Willingness and flexibility to travel within Hawaii quarterly (preferred but not required)
