Permanent Full-Time
Collects, compiles, and analyzes data related to the social, economic, and physical development of Maui County; prepares reports of findings and conclusions; and performs other related duties as required.
This class differs from Planner II in that the Planner III independently conducts various research studies and surveys pertinent to community planning, whereas Planner II assists in these activities. It also differs from Planner IV, which involves designing and developing comprehensive planning projects.
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in urban or regional planning, architecture, civil engineering, economics, sociology, public administration, or a related field, plus 1.5 years of research or analytical experience in social, economic, or community development programs.
Possession of a valid Hawaii driver's license (Type 3) may be required.
Knowledge of research methods, statistical procedures, report writing, community planning laws, and land use information sources. Ability to understand and apply statistical concepts, learn research methods, read broadly, communicate effectively, and analyze data.
Must meet health and physical standards necessary for performing duties.
