The authorized level of the position is Accountant IV. Applications are being accepted down to the Accountant II in the event of recruiting difficulties.
All new external applicants will be placed on the initial step of the salary range. Placement above the initial step will depend on factors such as qualifications, position needs, and funding. Hawaii State Department of Education employees will be placed according to Department regulations.
The Accountant (Operations) IV supervises fiscal data collection and analysis, prepares financial statements, supervises staff, recommends procedural changes, makes journal vouchers, reports on federal expenditures, and interprets accounting data for management.
The Accountant (Systems) IV studies accounts and procedural instructions, designs systems, and prepares forms and manuals.
The Accountant (Fund Control) IV initiates and reviews fiscal transactions, audits data, and prepares financial reports on appropriations and fund status.
Basic Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree with at least 12 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.
Experience Requirements: Progressive professional accounting or auditing experience as detailed in the table, with specific years for each level.
