Position Summary Description:
Responsible for the cost effective transit of inbound shipments from the manufacturer's door to Y. Hata's facilities in Hawaii.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work with Buyers to review and analyzes vendor agreements for FOB pricing and customer pickup (CPU) allowance.
2. Assists Buyers in load consolidation and transportation through logistical contacts.
3. Create and add freight rates for newly established vendors.
4. Manage the inbound shipments (FTL, LTL, Intermodal) from the manufacturer to the West Coast for the best possible service and most reasonable rates.
5. Be familiar and establish solid relationships with the ocean carriers, truck, air, inter-modal and local trucking company's operators serving the distribution center under the Logistic Department's control.
6. Negotiate rates and service commitments with various carriers to assure the best possible service and options are available at the most reasonable rates. Qualify the carriers according to prescribed guidelines.
7. Initiate carrier claims as required within required timelines and monitor claims for response.
8. Approve, dispute and resolve carrier invoices. Oversee vendor claims through Trackmax and notify AP of IL credits and debits as required.
9. Evaluation of carriers in terms of service, rates, claims, and responsiveness to the company's needs and requests.
10. Manage and execute freight rate changes when needed.
11. Performs similar and related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
12. Uses the Company's Mission/Vision Statements and Core Values as their guiding principles.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Transportation, Business Administration, or related field and/or
One year experience in Ocean Freight, Trucking, Warehousing, or Purchasing.
