This recruitment is conducted under the Operation Hire Hawaii (OH-HI) project, a targeted outreach initiative that features an expedited hiring process, fast-tracking qualified applicants into job opportunities throughout Hawai'i.

Salary:

  • Level I - $4,155/month (SR-16, Step D)
  • Level II - $4,495/month (SR-18, Step D)
  • Level III - $4,858 to $5,918/month (SR-20, Step D to I)

Note: Starting salary is at the minimum rate for Step D. For vacancies at Step D to I, hiring rates depend on funds, qualifications, and other relevant factors.

Position Overview:

This multi-series classification covers roles that advise, administer, supervise, or perform professional auditing work. Responsibilities include reviewing and appraising accounting and management controls within government agencies, ensuring compliance with income and unemployment taxes, rate-making for utilities and transportation, among other auditing functions. The work primarily involves applying sound accounting judgment, accepted auditing standards, and principles.

Levels:

  1. Auditor I: Receives training and assists in a trainee capacity in professional auditing activities, performing other duties as required.
  2. Auditor II: Performs a variety of assignments from simple to moderately difficult, not requiring full training, and performs other duties as required.
  3. Auditor III: Conducts moderately difficult audits, such as examining smaller agencies or specific aspects of larger agencies' fiscal work, assists higher-level auditors, and performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Legal Authorization to Work: Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible for unrestricted employment under federal law.
  • Basic Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, with at least 12 semester hours in accounting and/or auditing.
  • Specialized Experience: None required for Level I; 1 year for Level II; 2 years for Level III of professional auditing experience involving accounting and auditing principles.
  • Substitutions: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements may apply.
  • Driver's License: Some positions require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.
