Stevenson Middle is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Middle School Teacher Literacy Specialist to play a pivotal role in fostering a school-wide culture of literacy. This individual will work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to enhance literacy instruction, implement effective interventions, and promote a love of reading and writing across all content areas in our middle school. The Literacy Specialist will serve as a resource and coach, providing expertise in evidence-based literacy practices and supporting the academic success of all students.
The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. The minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian, or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree, with exceptions for designated CTE positions.
If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a program to continue employment and demonstrate active pursuit of Hawaii licensing requirements each year, as set by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program aligns with your teaching line.
