This posting is for filling Educational Interpreter positions that serve students at various schools as needed, assigned by the Office of Student Support Services - Special Needs Section. The authorized level is Educational Interpreter II, but applications are accepted for the Educational Interpreter I level in case of recruiting difficulties.
Salary Range:
Educational Interpreter I, SR-14: $3,917.00/month
Educational Interpreter II, SR-16: $4,240.00/month
Basic Education Requirements: 48 semester credits from an accredited institution recognized by the Hawaii Department of Education, including 3 credits in English and 3 in Math. Alternatively, a completed Educational Interpreter training program (e.g., A.S. or A.A.) with specialization in Educational Interpreting or equivalent.
Experience Requirements: At least 1 year of general or specialized interpreting/transliterating experience in an educational setting for levels I and II.
Substitutions: Completion of the ParaPro Assessment or a Bachelor's degree in an ASL/Interpreting program can substitute for experience requirements.
Certification: EIPA level 3.5+ or HQAS Interpreter Classification 3+ or RID Certification.
Driver's License: Must possess a valid Hawaii driver's license.
