To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements.

Education:

  • GL-09: Two full years of graduate education or a master's degree, only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position.
  • GS-11: There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.

OR

  • Experience:
  • GL-09 and GS-11: You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level in federal service. This experience must have equipped the applicant with the qualifications to perform the duties of the position successfully.

Some examples of qualifying experience include:

For GL-09:

  • Experience using schematic diagrams and testing equipment to test, troubleshoot, modify, calibrate, install, maintain, repair, or construct electronic equipment.
  • Experience identifying and correcting electronic deficiencies and recommending improved procedures.
  • Experience working with programmable logic controllers, CCTV/DVR systems, and fire systems.

For GS-11:

  • Experience as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic that demonstrates progression in electronic theory and understanding of electronic equipment characteristics, functions, and capabilities.
  • Experience using schematic diagrams and test equipment for testing, troubleshooting, modifying, designing, calibrating, installing, maintaining, repairing, constructing, developing, and instructing on electronic equipment.
  • Experience maintaining custom electronic equipment that is continually modified and adapted.
  • Experience developing policies, standards, and procedures for maintenance and installation, showing specialized knowledge of electronic systems or equipment.

If applicable, credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must specify the actual time spent in these activities (e.g., hours per week).
