Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Business Development, will play a critical role in driving global sales and business development strategy for our Cell and Gene Therapies (CGT) Technologies division. Reporting to the Senior Director for Sales and Business Development, the Senior Manager will focus on growing our portfolio by establishing strategic partnerships and advancing business initiatives in the rapidly evolving field of cell and gene therapies.

The Senior Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Field Application Specialists, R&D, Product Management, and Legal, to develop and execute strategies that foster innovation and support growth aligned with business goals and market demands. This role is suited for a highly driven, strategic thinker with extensive knowledge of the Cell & Gene Therapies industry.

Additional Details

  • Position may be remote, with willingness and ability to travel up to 40% (domestic & international), including regular trips to our U.S. headquarters in Lake Zurich, IL.
  • Base salary range: $163,000-$182,000
  • Eligible for an annual bonus plan with a target of 14% of the base salary.
  • Final pay will depend on experience, education, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

  1. Develop and implement business strategies to expand the division through partnerships, collaborations, and licensing deals with internal and external stakeholders.
  2. Identify and cultivate new business opportunities, including collaborations with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, academic institutions, CDMOs, and other stakeholders in the gene and cell therapy space.
  3. Lead negotiations and structuring of complex agreements, ensuring favorable terms and risk mitigation.
  4. Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive dynamics to identify opportunities and threats, providing insights for strategic decisions.
  5. Collaborate with internal teams (R&D, product management, legal, commercial, marketing) to assess feasibility, drive objectives, and manage project timelines for partnerships.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Life Sciences, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in sales and/or business development.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct experience in the Cell and Gene Therapies industry, with deep understanding of industry trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM and business analytics tools.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%, including international travel.
