Job Description

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated O&M Engineer and Asset Manager who excels in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring project delivery, managing O&M requirements throughout the project lifecycle, collaborating with all project departments, and coordinating documentation at both system and subsystem levels. The role includes training, interface management between design/build and O&M teams, and feedback to product engineering. This position is based in Pearl City, HI, USA.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the O&M Engineering and Asset Management Team in Honolulu.
  2. Monitor and support Turnkey technologies in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, and manuals.
  3. Observe system components in operation to detect failures and malfunctions.
  4. Assist field technicians in troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
  5. Conduct monthly failure reporting and corrective action analysis for signaling and telecommunications subsystems.
  6. Maintain configuration management of signaling and telecommunication systems.
  7. Perform physical configuration audits.
  8. Analyze log files for troubleshooting and improvements.
  9. Collaborate with subsystem engineers on complex issues.
  10. Manage on-site spare parts and repair cycles, tracking usage.
  11. Ensure subsystem conformance to technical specifications.
  12. Lead signaling and telecommunications change management activities.

Required Education and Skills

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Knowledge of Turnkey technologies.
  • 2 to 5+ years of field experience.
  • Experience with Rail Transit Signaling Systems such as Automatic Train Control, Communication-Based Train Control, Positive Train Control.
  • Proficiency with tools and test equipment.
  • Strong team player with analytical skills and ability to work independently.

Desired Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience with Maintenance Management Information Systems (MMIS).
  • Knowledge of Rail Transit Subsystems (ATC, VTS, SCADA, CCTV, etc.).
  • Experience troubleshooting ATC equipment faults.
  • Basic understanding of software configuration management and programming logic.
  • Familiarity with Linux or UNIX systems.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple priorities.

Additional Information

The salary range is $110,760 - $150,000, with final pay based on experience and skills. We conduct substance screening as per DOT regulations. Benefits include comprehensive health plans, retirement plans, paid vacation, and training opportunities.
