Job Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist the Corps Officers in accomplishing church-related duties.

Corps Program Responsibilities

  1. Assist the Corps Officers with programs including Sunday School, worship services, fellowship, visitations, Soldiers' classes, Corps Cadets, Bible studies, and outreach ministries. Support social services such as food pantry, SAM, and Kupuna Fun Day.
  2. Support and attend Divisional and Territorial programs, events, and camps.
  3. Lead youth ministries and programs, providing transportation as needed.
  4. Assist with Thanksgiving and Christmas programs, including roles such as volunteering, transportation, and event preparation.
  5. Support other outreach programs, defining volunteer roles clearly in writing.
  6. Coordinate transportation for programs and events.
  7. Prepare and cook meals/snacks for programs as needed.
  8. Assist in pastoral care and ministry to members and participants.
  9. Coordinate fundraising for youth and Corps events.
  10. Lead and assist with Corps Ministries, including outreach, VBS, social services, camps, and seasonal events like Angel Giving Tree and Adopt a Family.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED; some college preferred.
  • Professed Christian beliefs, high integrity, comfortable discussing Christianity.
  • Represent The Salvation Army positively in conduct and appearance.
  • Preferred to be a soldier in good standing.
  • Experience with Salvation Army programs and policies preferred.
  • Ability to make independent judgments and manage staff and volunteers.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Excellent organizational skills, multitasking, and office system proficiency.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and database applications; adaptable to new software.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to drive Salvation Army vehicles.
  • Complete required training, background checks, and fingerprinting as applicable.
  • Ability to travel nationally.
  • Attain or hold CPR and Food Handlers Certifications.
