Apex Systems is actively hiring for a Network Engineer with a large government client supporting the Department of the Navy in Oahu, HI!

Position requires a currently active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance.

Location: 100% on-site in Oahu, HI (potential for occasional travel)

Contract Duration: One year contract-to-permanent-hire opportunity

The Network Engineer will serve on a team of technical Engineers supporting multiple government programs. Candidates will be involved in the planning, design, development, implementation, and technical support of multi-platform, multi-system networks, including requirements analysis and network performance optimization. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication, presentation, and writing skills, along with a proven problem-solving ability and team-oriented mindset to work effectively in a challenging environment supporting the Department of the Navy.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Providing on-call and support for network sustainment.
2. Serving as SME to assist in the sustainment of Department of the Navy networks.
3. Installing, configuring, and supporting network appliances.
4. Installing and configuring physical components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN gateways.
5. Using network monitoring and management tools to ensure security and performance.
6. Communicating effectively with SMEs and Program Managers.
7. Preparing technical documentation.
8. Providing on-call support for CONUS and OCONUS requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Active, DoD-issued Secret Security Clearance
• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Cybersecurity from an accredited university
• Desired: CCENT, CCNA, CCDA, CCNP, CISSP certifications
• 5+ years of experience with network architectures and security appliances
• Expertise in network analysis, management, design, capacity, and throughput planning
• Experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Aruba, Cisco ISE, and F5
• Knowledge of Wi-Fi standards like 802.1ac and 802.11ax
• Experience with routing protocols, switching protocols, PKI, firewall rules, ACLs, load balancers, 802.1X, and security scanning tools
