The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a qualified SQL Database Administrator to support our government customer located at Fort Shafter, Hawai'i.

The SQL Database Administrator will be part of a dynamic team of IT Enterprise Managers, with expertise in Windows, MECM, Enterprise Patching, PKI/Certificates, Cloud, and scripting. In this role, you will work across endpoint management and server operations teams to ensure SLA adherence and drive automation through scripting and testing emerging technologies.

Description of Responsibilities

  • Hands-on experience with upgrading SQL Servers from lower versions to the latest (2019 and up).
  • Full backup and recovery capabilities of Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and 2022.
  • Creating reports using Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Setting up Reporting servers; responsible for DBA functions, report development, and system architecture.
  • Effective communication skills (oral and written).
  • Participate in meetings and special projects as required.
  • Knowledge of IT networks, enterprise mail servers, and system administration of Windows (MECM/SCCM) and Linux.
  • Understanding virtualization (VMware) concepts and virtualized environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, file systems, and disk structures.
  • Knowledge of database optimization, clustering, data modeling, data lakes, warehouses, and data marts.
  • Experience with database mirroring, log shipping, high availability, and redundancy techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Certifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (preferred).
  • At least one IAT III baseline certification (e.g., FITSP-O, GFACT, CASP+, CCNP Security, CCSP).
  • ITIL v4 certification.
  • Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate within 6 months of hire.

Skills and Experience

  • Best practices for SQL database optimization.
  • Experience with clustered server environments, data models, data lakes, data warehouses, and data marts.
  • Knowledge of metadata, data flow, ER diagrams, schema architectures, query languages.
  • Experience with database mirroring, log shipping, high availability, backup and recovery.
  • Hands-on SQL Server experience (2019 and 2022), report setup, and scripting (PowerShell).
  • Support for MECM (SCCM) including software packaging, patching, device enrollment, policy management, application deployment, and OSD.
  • Strong Windows troubleshooting, networking, VPN, and certificate-based authentication skills.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Over 5 years in high-availability system architecture and design.
  • Strong IT architecture analysis skills.

Citizenship and Clearance

  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Active TOP Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI clearance.
