This role involves responsibility as a branch chief for planning, developing, directing, and coordinating economic development activities for a statewide program. Duties include identifying and promoting business opportunities, expanding existing businesses, attracting new investments, promoting products and services, and conducting supporting research. Additional related duties may be assigned.
Positions in this class have considerable latitude in planning and prioritizing program activities. They participate in legislative proposal preparation and recommend administrative decisions affecting economic development in assigned areas.
Legal Authorization to Work: All applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in marketing, business administration, law, economics, finance, foreign trade, or a related field, including at least three semester credit hours in statistics. Knowledge of economics, business statistics, and management is required.
Specialized Experience: At least 5.5 years of professional experience demonstrating knowledge of economic development, marketing, research and analysis, business promotion, finance, planning, management, and familiarity with government programs.
Supervisory and Administrative Aptitude: Evidence of supervisory and administrative abilities or potential is acceptable.
Driver's License: Some positions require a valid driver's license.
