Overview

The Complex Director of Human Resources is responsible for staffing qualified personnel, ensuring employment statute compliance, overseeing wage, benefit, worker's compensation, unemployment, training programs, and employee relations including coaching, counseling, and discipline for an assigned portfolio of hotels.

Responsibilities

  1. Direct and supervise Human Resources staff.
  2. Prepare and maintain Human Resources budget.
  3. Ensure compliance with all HR/employee regulations and laws.
  4. Participate in hearings related to EEO, unemployment, wage & hour, workers' compensation, OSHA, ADA, immigration, etc., and implement policies to ensure compliance.
  5. Communicate policies and directives to employees.
  6. Train staff on HR policies and procedures.
  7. Oversee recruitment, screening, and reference checks for non-exempt personnel; recruit and interview exempt personnel.
  8. Maintain employee benefits programs and wage/salary structures.
  9. Handle employee transitions like hires, transfers, and promotions.
  10. Maintain open door policy and monitor employee turnover.
  11. Conduct training sessions and ensure timely submission of reports.
  12. Participate in safety and loss prevention programs.
  13. Become certified in HR training modules.
  14. Manage employee recognition programs and employee surveys.
  15. Develop and implement employee relations initiatives, including coaching, counseling, and discipline.
  16. Create and maintain benefit programs and service standard trainings.
  17. Develop managers for future roles and ensure proper coaching and counseling.
  18. Manage personnel and application files, and develop recruitment resources.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience in a hotel or related industry; or a 4-year college degree with at least 2 years of related experience; or a 2-year degree with 3+ years of experience.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of employment laws is essential.
  • Ability to work long hours sometimes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns.
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills.
  • Attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented demeanor.
  • Participation in hotel meetings, trainings, and M.O.D. coverage as required.

Salary Range: ($105,000/year - $120,000/year)
