We are looking for a skilled Mechanical Engineer to participate in all product stages from research and development to design, manufacture, installation, and final commissioning.

About The Role

As a Mission Software Engineer at HavocAI, you will be at the forefront of innovation, solving real-world technical challenges across networking, autonomy, systems integration, robotics, and beyond. You will lead the end-to-end delivery of solutions, ensuring seamless operation of HavocAI's products to achieve critical outcomes for our customers.

This role demands a pragmatic approach—balancing expediency, scalability, and engineering excellence—while maintaining a relentless "mission-first" mindset.

Note: This position will sit in Honolulu, Hawaii for at least the first 6 months to support deployment and integration efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Own and deliver solutions: Take ownership of software solutions deployed to customers, ensuring high-quality delivery that meets mission objectives.
  2. Improve mission capabilities: Develop software that enhances HavocAI products for operational needs, collaborating with the platform engineering team to scale capabilities.
  3. Collaborate across teams: Work with multidisciplinary teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality.
  4. Analyze and monitor: Create and use performance metrics for debugging and monitoring systems.
  5. Troubleshoot and resolve: Identify root causes of issues, propose solutions, and coordinate next steps.
  6. Partner with end-users: Collaborate with customers to translate needs into features, balancing user experience with technical constraints.
  7. Real-world deployment: Travel up to 30% to build, test, and deploy capabilities in operational environments.

Qualifications

  1. Strong engineering background, ideally in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics.
  2. 3+ years experience with C++, Python, or Rust in a Linux environment.
  3. Experience with data processing and analysis software solutions.
  4. Ability to understand complex systems and codebases quickly.
  5. Passion for mission-critical software with real-world impact.
  6. Must be a U.S. citizen.
  7. Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Preferred Skills

  1. Experience with multi-agent autonomous systems in real-world scenarios.
  2. Familiarity with robotics frameworks like ROS or MOOS-IvP.
  3. Experience with flight systems, safety-critical software, or hardware integration.
  4. Understanding of distributed networks and messaging standards.
  5. Knowledge of military systems and tactics.

Location

  • This position requires a minimum of 30% travel.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary range: $140,000 - $180,000.
