There are currently openings in the Department of Planning and Permitting, Planning Division, and the Department of Parks and Recreation.

The Planner III position involves conducting land use, housing, and environmental surveys and studies; collecting, compiling, and analyzing social, economic, and physical data; preparing reports and graphic illustrations; and gathering background data for review and analysis of zone change and other land use applications.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Assisting professional planners with processing applications such as land use district boundary amendments, special use permits, zone changes, and infrastructure map amendments.
• Performing technical research and analysis on projects of varying complexity.
• Preparing exhibits, maps, tables, and graphic displays for presentations to planning bodies and public meetings.

• Department of Parks and Recreation: $4,858 - $5,690 per month
• Department of Planning and Permitting: $5,512 per month

Minimum Qualifications:

• U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident alien, or eligible non-citizen for employment.
• Education: Degree from a regionally-accredited college or university in city planning, sociology, business, public administration, or related fields. Foreign degrees require evaluation and documentation.
• Experience: At least one year of research or analytical experience in social, economic, or community development programs. A Master's degree in a related field can substitute for this experience.
• License: Valid driver's license (Type 3/automobile).
