**Job Description**Under the direction of the Manager, this position works with the Chief Appraiser to administer the appraisal and evaluation process for ongoing production lending and portfolio monitoring, performs compliance checks and evaluations as required, supports internal clients, maintains relationships with vendors, oversight of the web based workflow and vendor management program, production of management reports and maintenance of the approved appraiser list.**Responsibilities*** Performs reviews of independent appraisals and evaluations. Completes evaluations or validations of existing appraisals and evaluations for maturing credit facilities as applicable. Completes administrative compliance checks and technical reviews of appraisals for new credit facilities and Special Assets / internal decision-making purposes ensuring that the appraisals comply with regulatory guidance and bank policy. Communicates with credit approver and originating loan officer to ensure that the product will contain sufficient information to support the credit decision consistent with safe and sound banking practices and meet delivery expectations of clients. Ensures that deliverables are acceptable to Chief Appraiser.* Expedites the appraisal and evaluation delivery process. Supports and complements the work of the Chief Appraiser in the appropriate scoping of appraisal reports in response to the requests for appraisals / evaluations. Establishes appropriate scope of work, obtains bids from 3rd party appraisers, issues awards and engagement letters for real estate appraisals that are in compliance with regulatory guidance and bank policy. Coordinates with internal partners and external vendors throughout the end to end process ensuring that independence is maintained and that deadlines of internal and external clients are met. * Provides technical support, training and enforces policies. Partners with the Chief Appraiser to plan and coordinate internal educational opportunities as needed. Assists in implementing and enforcing Bank of Hawaii's appraisal policies and procedures. Manages the web based workflow and vendor management program to ensure effective tracking of the end to end process, provides performance based reports to management and supports the maintenance of the approved appraiser list for use on federally related transactions.* Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.**Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent work experience. Current State General Certification required. Completion of commercial real estate appraisal courses to include: Valuation Procedures and Appraisal Principles (or equivalent); Basic and Advanced Income Capitalization (or equivalent); Cost Approach; Sales Comparison Approach; Market Analysis and Highest and Best Use; Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice.* Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial real estate analysis with a financial services or independent appraisal company. Minimum 5 years of commercial appraisal review and appraisal administration experience. Experience to include conducting market research, feasibility studies, real property consulting, valuation of real property and review of appraisals. Experience in scoping and engaging both non-complex and complex appraisal assignments is required. Emphasis on review experience of 3rd party appraisals in an institutional setting.* Demonstrated proficiency in reviewing appraisals for commercial real estate related transactions, completing evaluations and validations of existing appraisals and evaluations as applicable. Familiarity with public market data sources (e.g. Hawaii Information Services and private sources e.g. CoStar). Ability to access stakeholders in the market place, (e.g. property managers, realtors, appraisers etc.) in order to obtain and validate comparable sales or rental information. Knowledge of banking industry policies and procedures. Knowledge of Federal and State laws affecting commercial real estate in general and appraisals in particular e.g. FIRREA and USPAP. * Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use bank software and systems.* Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively in teams. Ability to manage multiple tasks with follow through and possess strong organizational skills. Must be able to provide own transportation and ability to commute and arrive at intended destination in a timely manner and/or as required. May travel by air as required.
