Duties and Responsibilities (* denotes essential functions):
Program or Service Administration
- *Plans, organizes, implements, and evaluates the promotions, marketing, sales, advertising, and partnership functions, tasks, activities, and campaigns for the student union program; develops multimedia marketing strategies and proposals for student union and applicable student life communication using a variety of media platforms.
- *Guides and supports student leaders in the recruitment, supervision, training, and evaluation of student leaders, student volunteers, and student staff involved in promotions and marketing of student union programs and services.
- *Performs research, analyzes data, and participates in the development and implementation of strategic initiatives for student life communications, marketing, and media efforts.
- *Provides oversight of the Campus Center Graphics department, including implementing a student development curriculum for students engaged in the service.
- *Ensures collaboration with the department, student union leadership, and student union service areas in developing applicable marketing and promotion strategies, while ensuring that overall student life program needs are addressed.
- *Oversees content creation, edits, updates, and posts to the Student Life and Development website and social media channels; leads in ensuring that student union service area content is current and consistent, reviewing for style requirements and message tone as applicable.
- *Designs and creates social media graphics and videos to ensure content is high quality and aligns with student union and student life branding.
- *Gathers, analyzes, and organizes social media data and statistics while staying up-to-date with social media trends and platforms updates.
- *Develops, models, and maintains positive public relations with campus clients, local business community, and national advertisers ensuring mutually beneficial relationships and partnering opportunities.
- *Accounts for all media service transactions by ensuring efficient reporting and documentation systems according to University, state, and federal regulations, policies, and procedures; ensures appropriate internal controls to promote accountability.
- *Develops, interprets, implements, and revises, as needed, appropriate policies and procedures governing promotions and marketing for student union programs, and updates operational manuals as needed, to ensure best practice.
- *Exercises budgetary direction and accountability for delegated accounts according to University, state, federal, and department regulations, policies, and procedures.
Organizational Advising and Support
- *Provides organizational advising, counseling, and teaching to assigned student organizations in order to improve students' interpersonal and leadership skills to work effectively within team settings.
- Serves as a student advocate to students, student organizations, and University departments.
- Represents and supports the University and department mission to students.
- Understands and communicates intent underlying University policies and procedures to students and student organizations.
- Participates in providing educational services and training to students involved in group and team settings, including intrapersonal development, interpersonal development, program planning, and organizational development.
Facility Operations
- *Performs proper oversight for assigned workspace(s) and reports facility maintenance needs to appropriate facilities staff, in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates accountability for all equipment assigned to perform service operations.
Organizational Training and Development
- *Develops, implements, and evaluates an ongoing training program for student graphics designers, managers, and executives to foster their continued development, motivation, recognition, and retention.
- Provides educational services to overall student union and student life programs regarding marketing and communication strategies as needed.
Staff Efficacy and Renewal
- Participates via institutional and/or personal membership in relevant professional associations appropriate to the position.
- Participates and engages in professional development opportunities to be current with current scholarship and best practices in the field.
- Works on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
Other
- Serves as acting supervisor in the absence of the Student Events and Campus Life Services Director.
- Assumes interchangeable assignments and provides administrative direction for department unit projects, initiatives, and assignments, as appropriate.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate degree in advertising, marketing, mass media, communications, journalism, education, business administration, social sciences, human development, or related field, and 3 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for providing educational services and/or educational public relations using multimedia platforms; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of multimedia communication and marketing, including digital platforms, advertising, media sales, students affairs or student activities administration, or group management as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving technologies, concepts, principles, and methodologies.
- Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, and theories and systems associated with advertising, media sales, marketing, student affairs or student activities administration, or group management.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and by preparation of reports and other materials.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
- Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing software and financial management software.
- If applicable for supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
- Demonstrated ability in program development, especially in the area of program ideation, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
- Considerable knowledge of, or ability to apply social media platforms for purposes of marketing and promoting student media programs.
- Demonstrated ability to collect and analyze data for the purpose of determining communication strategies, resulting in, but not limited to, marketing and/or branding campaigns.
- Highly organized and able to set own priorities and multitask, including leading multiple projects simultaneously.
- Considerable knowledge of organizational processes as applied to the management of operations, services, programs, and facilities.
- Knowledge of, or ability to, apply computer software for publications planning, layout, design, and presentation-making (e.g. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) as well as social media platforms.
- Ability to interpret and apply legal and policy provisions to situations consistently.
- Ability to work beyond normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays as necessitated by branch requirements.
- Ability to prepare and administer a budget, review and interpret financial reports, and discern trends and concerns from such reports.
Desirable Qualifications
- Possession of a Master's degree in business administration, communications, or a related field.
- Skilled in working collaboratively in problem solving.
- Experience in leading others, managing work priorities, and managing employee relations.
