Mokulele Elementary School, located on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam in Honolulu, was established in 1961 on land leased from the federal government to provide an education for the growing number of military families stationed in Hawaii during the Vietnam War. The significance of the logo represents the Hawaiian interpretation of the word Mokulele meaning "flying ship or airplane". The nickname "flyers" and the airplane refer to the United States Air Force Base on which the school is located. Our school colors are blue and yellow.


Mokulele currently serves students in grade Pre-Kindergarten to six. Our staff is committed to meeting the educational needs of all students enrolled as we continue our efforts to bring quality to our education program. We believe that communication between parents and school personnel is basic to helping every child achieve his or her academic and social potential. The Hawaii State Department of Education is committed to hiring highly qualified teachers in every classroom. With the exception of designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) positions, the minimum qualification to apply for a teacher, librarian or counselor position is a Bachelor's Degree.


If you are hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you have a maximum of 3 years to obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license. You must enroll in a Program to continue employment with the Department. Within each year of employment, you must satisfactorily demonstrate active pursuit towards meeting Hawaii licensing requirements, as set forth by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board (HTSB). It is your responsibility to ensure the program you have enrolled is aligned with the teaching line you are hired in.


Upon hire you will need to have a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit.
