Portfolio Manager

Description:

Under the direction of the Fixed Income Manager, manages high revenue and high sensitivity portfolios and client relationships. Also, maintains competitive depth and breadth and a high degree of competency in the financial markets.

Responsibilities

  • Independently manages discretionary portfolios for individual and institutional clients and mutual funds in compliance with portfolio objectives and risk parameters.
  • Analyzes and evaluates a wide range of information to maintain a high level of competency in financial markets and to formulate and give input to fixed income strategies.
  • Trades fixed income securities to align portfolios with their objectives and to achieve competitive performance.
  • Maintains relationships with institutional and more complex clients. Assists business development officers and trust officers with client retention and asset growth. Provides support to mutual fund wholesale effort. Assists in the maintenance of internal and external relationships related to trading, mutual funds and other third party vendors.
  • Maintains fluency in all applicable laws, standards and regulations. Ensures that all assigned portfolios are in policy and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop personal skills to better serve our clients and provide training and guidance to less experienced portfolio managers and analysts.
  • Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, mathematics, economics, or equivalent work experience. Preference for an advanced degree (MBA) or professional certification (CFA, CFP, etc).
  • Minimum 7 - 10 years of prior experience in portfolio management or related experience within the financial industry. Demonstrated proficiency in the financial services/securities industry as a portfolio manager, trader or securities analyst. Possesses a competitive performance track record.
  • Demonstrated proficiency and expertise with personal computers and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software and systems.
  • Demonstrated verbal and writing communication skills. Strong inter-personal and presentation skills. Ability to work independently and under pressure of multiple changing priorities and deadlines. Must be a critical thinker with the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and succinctly. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned. Must be able to provide own transportation or to operate a vehicle with a valid driver's license, and able to commute and arrive at intended destination in a timely manner and/or as required. Off island travel may be required.
