Primary Purpose
Provides expert and strategic guidance and advice to member companies in matters relating to human resource administration, effective employee management and relations, compliance with labor and employment laws, and promoting services provided by Hawaii Employers Council (HEC) to help member companies reach their business goals.
Develops and conducts seminars, workshops, and other training programs as needed.

Working Conditions
Workstation: Air-conditioned office. Remote work partially available. Duties require visiting other sites under a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
Equipment: HEC provided laptop computer, copier, facsimile machine, and telephone/voice mail system. Access to personal vehicle required. Must possess a valid drivers license.
Work Hours: Weekdays: Normal business hours. Weekends or additional hours as necessary to meet business needs.
Cognitive Demands
Most duties involve dealing with highly confidential and/or sensitive information requiring the use of good judgment and discretion. Duties also require analytical ability, attention to detail, concentration, ability to multi-task, and alertness. Requires dealing with situations involving changing priorities, complex issues, and maintaining cooperative and productive work relationships. Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
Physical Demands
Requires sitting for prolonged periods during meetings and at other times. Frequently requires travel to other sites with periodic travel to neighbor islands.
Communications Demands
Requires frequent oral and written communication with various management representatives, government officials, and HEC professional and support staff. Also requires making oral presentations in person and virtually before workshop groups and other meetings for up to three hours without a break.
Qualification Requirements
Skills/Knowledge: Must have broad knowledge of human resource management, employee relations, employment law, research methods, and procedures. Knowledge of labor law preferred. Must have strong communication skills (oral and written) and work effectively with management and executives at a variety of levels. Experience with Microsoft Office, customer relations management, and video platforms such as Zoom.
Education/Experience: Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or equivalent education or experience is required. A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in human resource management, labor and/or employment law, or any combination of education and experience which would provide the necessary skills, abilities, and knowledge to carry out the duties of this position.
Certifications: HRCI or SHRM certification or license to practice law in the state of Hawaii required.
