About the Role

The Saint Francis Health Services for Senior Citizens (HSSC) program offers bathing and personal care services for elders who are unable or challenged to provide this type of care for themselves. The HSSC professional team of Nursing Assistants - Community Senior Care provide in-home bathing and personal care services for Hawaii's kupuna throughout Oahu. Our team of Nursing Assistants are trained to preserve the dignity of our kupuna and help them maintain proper hygiene.

Essential Functions of the Job

  • Travels to client homes or residences to provide bathing and personal care services.
  • Assists with or gives baths and shampoo in varying settings (bed, tub, shower, etc.).
  • Performs related tasks as requested by client/caregiver, relating to personal care, (e.g. oral hygiene, shaving, linen changes).
  • Performs duties in a professional manner showing sensitivity to specific client needs.
  • Keeps Staff Coordinator informed of conditions relevant to the client's social and emotional needs
  • Adheres to proper safety measures with regards to patient and self
  • Exhibits knowledge of infection control practices and procedures. Follows appropriate PPE practices when delivering services.
  • Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality.
  • PERFORMS OTHER RELATED DUTIES AS NEEDED
Requirements

Educational Requirements:
  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Certificate of completion of a State of Hawaii certified Nurse's Aide course (100 hours)
  • State of Hawaii Nurse Aide Certification preferred but not required.
Experience:
  • One (1) year experience, preferably caring for individuals in a home setting, Skilled Nursing Facility or acute care facility.
Job Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills and command of spoken and written English.
  • Interest in working with the ill, elderly and disabled. Willingness to follow guidelines regarding proper body mechanics and safety with regards to patient care.
  • Strong ability to perform work responsibilities independently.
  • Valid driver's license for the State of Hawaii required
  • Personal car available for work
  • Must possess the required automobile insurance coverage and satisfactory driving record.
  • Current CPR certification.
