POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Safety Coordinator with a strong focus on workers' compensation, general liability management, and OSHA compliance. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and ensuring workplace safety, handling workers' compensation claims, filing general liability documents, maintaining OSHA 300 logs, and serving as the main point of contact for issues related to workers' compensation and general liability. This role requires excellent organizational skills, thorough knowledge of safety regulations, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
DUTIES: Include the following (but are not limited - other duties may be assigned)
Safety Coordination:
- Develop, implement, and maintain company-wide safety programs and policies to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards in the workplace.
- Lead safety training sessions for employees, ensuring they are informed about safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Collaborate with management and employees to promote a culture of safety and ensure that safety procedures are consistently followed.
Workers' Compensation Handling & Filing:
- Act as the primary point of contact for all workers' compensation-related issues, including claim reporting, management, and communication with insurance providers.
- Ensure that all workers' compensation claims are processed in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain detailed records of all workers' compensation claims, from initial reporting to closure, ensuring accurate documentation and follow-up on claim status.
- Coordinate with medical providers, adjusters, and legal teams as needed to manage claims effectively and provide appropriate support to injured workers.
General Liability Filing:
- Handle the filing and management of general liability claims, including documentation of incidents and accidents involving employees, contractors, or third parties.
- Work with legal and insurance teams to ensure timely and accurate filing of all general liability reports.
- Monitor and track the progress of claims and provide updates to stakeholders as necessary.
OSHA 300 Filing & Compliance:
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of OSHA 300 logs (Workplace Injury and Illness Logs), maintaining compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Review incident reports, medical records, and other documentation to accurately record workplace injuries and illnesses in accordance with OSHA guidelines.
- Provide assistance during OSHA inspections, audits, and investigations, ensuring that all required documentation is available and in compliance with safety regulations.
Point of Contact for Workers' Compensation & General Liability Issues:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all issues related to workers' compensation and general liability, addressing concerns and providing guidance to employees and management.
- Investigate incidents, determine the root cause, and recommend corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve any disputes or issues related to workers' compensation and general liability claims.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Stay up-to-date on changes in workers' compensation laws, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices.
- Generate reports on safety performance, workers' compensation claims, and general liability claims for senior management review.
- Assist in the development and implementation of corrective and preventive actions to reduce workplace injuries and accidents.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management related to safety, workers' compensation, or general liability matters.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in Occupational Safety & Health (e.g., Certified Safety Professional) is a plus.
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in safety coordination, workers' compensation handling, general liability management, and OSHA compliance.
- Strong knowledge of workers' compensation laws, general liability insurance, OSHA regulations, and safety standards.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with safety management software or workers' compensation claim systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office environment with occasional visits to job sites or facilities for safety inspections.
Certificates & Licenses:
Valid Drivers License (job may require traveling between stores)
Language Ability:
- Ability to effectively communicate and respond to questions.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management.
