Superintendent – Heavy Civil Construction

About the Company

A leading heavy civil general contractor in Honolulu, HI is seeking an experienced superintendent to oversee heavy civil construction projects, including infrastructure, roadways, bridges, utilities, and site development. Position Overview

As a superintendent, you will be responsible for field operations, subcontractor coordination, safety, scheduling, and overall site management. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field operations for heavy civil construction projects, including earthwork, grading, underground utilities, concrete, and roadwork.
• Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
• Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel to maintain an efficient workflow.
• Develop and maintain construction schedules to meet project milestones.
• Conduct site inspections, progress reports, and quality control checks.
• Enforce strict adherence to OSHA and company safety standards.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure smooth communication and issue resolution.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, logs, and project documentation.
• Lead and mentor field crews, fostering a productive and safe work environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience as a superintendent in heavy civil construction.
• Strong background in civil projects.
• Proven ability to manage multiple subcontractors, labor crews, and equipment operations.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Knowledge of Hawaii construction regulations, environmental requirements, and permitting processes preferred.
• Ability to travel to various job sites across Oahu and other Hawaiian Islands as needed.
