Ankura's Data Privacy Practice offers a full-service suite of data privacy solutions for clients, regardless of industry or size. Our experts assess data privacy risk and readiness relative to existing and emerging privacy regulations and help organizations build and mature their privacy programs.

Role Overview:

Our Privacy practice is a rapidly growing part of the Data & Technology segment of our business. The Director will help our clients address their data privacy challenges, including assisting organizations through privacy related regulatory investigations, conducting privacy risk assessments, creating policies and procedures, building data inventories, reviewing, and interpreting regulatory changes, developing consumer response processes, and implementing technology.

This role is remote, based in the United States.

Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee delivery of engagements related to Data Privacy including, privacy compliance program modernization, third party and vendor risk management, privacy risk assessments, data subject rights request processes, Privacy Technology implementations, integrations, and configurations; Software / Solution Development Lifecycle (SDLC) integration; privacy source code analysis; website and application compliance; and Privacy training.
  2. Lead day-to-day activities of privacy engagements including interaction with other team members, subject matter experts, external counsel, and client contacts.
  3. Manage all facets of client engagements, including project planning, work stream supervision, budgeting, and billing.
  4. Create project status summaries, reports, metrics, written analyses, assessments, and other presentations of work performed.
  5. Create and update policies and procedures to support compliance with various regulations.
  6. Actively participate in and lead internal and external team meetings including client assessments, presentations, and status meetings.
  7. Manage time and tasks to meet internal and external deadlines.
  8. Develop privacy program strategy for client engagements, using a privacy framework and supported by a working knowledge of applicable privacy regulations and requirements.
  9. Mentor practice members to enable their professional development and continued growth.
  10. Develop standardized metrics, methodologies, and other work product to be delivered by client project teams.
  11. Develop and deploy website scanning strategies and technologies; recommend and implement technical measures to support compliance with consent and preference management obligations.
  12. Conduct/lead client interviews, ensure that the team develops appropriate pre-meeting materials and conducts background research, and mentor practice members in client environments.
  13. Build relationships with other Ankura professionals and participate in industry events where subject matter expertise is requested.
  14. Interact with Ankura team members in the US and within global business groups to ensure client needs are met.
  15. Ensure clients are provided high-quality services from all levels of the team and provide an appropriate level of oversight and review of client reports and deliverables.
  16. Maintain a professional image within the company and project the same to those outside of the company.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor's Degree with a solid academic performance.
  2. 5+ years of experience managing large, complex data privacy or compliance engagements.
  3. Knowledge of various internet protocol layers, emphasizing a holistic view of network security and performance.
  4. Deep knowledge of privacy regulations and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA) and their practical implementation.
  5. Proven track record of successfully leading, managing, and developing a team of privacy consultants or professionals.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex privacy concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  7. Project management experience including understanding of project life cycles (PMP or other project management certifications).
  8. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify privacy risks and develop practical solutions.
  9. Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) certification (preferred).
  10. Demonstrated thought leadership through publications, presentations, or contributions to industry forums.
  11. Willingness and flexibility to travel as required.
