WSP USA Senior Mechanical Engineer - Buildings in Honolulu, Hawaii

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our Honolulu, HI office. Be involved in projects with our Property and Buildings Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our clients' objectives and solves their challenges.

Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase due diligence, design, development, building, testing, and inspecting of mechanical systems on infrastructure, building, and construction projects in the public and private sector. Responsibilities include the research, design, concept development, planning, installation, operation, maintenance, and optimal integration of automatic temperature control, air distribution, hydronic, and plumbing systems, equipment and processes. Substantiates reports and documentation regarding installation, construction, and operation specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.

Your Impact

1. Lead and manage the mechanical design on multiple projects.
2. Interface with clients, attend client meetings, and represent the team at project meetings.
3. Actively participate in the full project cycle from the design phase through the final construction close-out.
4. Provide technical expertise for mechanical systems including air distribution and hydronic systems, automatic temperature controls system design, and cooling/heating load calculations.
5. Construction administration, project management, and quality control review of project designs and documentation.
6. Prepare technical reports and specifications.
7. Prepare project budgets and monitor compliance with time/schedule deadlines.
8. Plan and obtain additional work authorizations as required for scope changes.
9. Accountability for the profitability of the projects managed.
10. Scheduling and selecting major equipment.
11. Work as an individual or as part of a cross-functional team of engineers, planners, and scientific professionals to execute project work on multiple concurrent projects.
12. Comply with regulatory requirements pertaining to the data integrity, documentation, procedures, training, monitoring systems, and record compliance and retention.
13. Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
14. Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
2. 5 to 7 years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior mechanical design experience.
3. Project experience with buildings from the design phase through the final construction close-out.
4. Experience with the design of HVAC systems and automatic temperature controls for a broad range of commercial systems.
5. Excellent communication and engineering skills (conceptual and inter-disciplinary) with the ability to work with our clients to determine/study different system types.
6. Hands-on knowledge and experience with Revit and AutoCAD.
7. Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
8. Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical workweek.
9. Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
10. Proficient with mechanical engineering principles, practices, process, and the application to project work-related issues.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in complex sector space such as healthcare and/or labs.
2. A member of and/or actively participate in local professional practice organizations.
3. Essential Professional Licensure/Certification.
4. Experience managing small to mid-size projects.

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
