About the Role:

The CBRE Energy and Renewables team is seeking a Director, BESS to lead client engagements, business development, and drive new product development, particularly products related to advisory on corporate participation with utility-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS). We are looking for an energy storage expert who can deliver sophisticated services and innovate within a dynamic, start-up culture.

What You'll Do:

1. Lead customer engagements pertaining to BESS; from initial education sessions through final contract execution.
2. Manage commercial negotiations and structuring between clients and developers; act as point person on key commercial items, developing innovative structures and terms to create value and minimize risk for our clients.
3. Identify, develop, and execute new opportunities in energy and renewables markets, with special emphasis on BESS.
4. Conduct business development related to BESS, including through customer prospecting, outreach, and in-person meetings; collaborate with the Business Development team to secure new clients for our services.
5. Own and manage development of key commercial templates, including base energy services agreements / tolling agreements.
6. Build and nurture client relationships through networking, business development, and strategic outreach.
7. Develop new services and business opportunities associated with BESS.
8. Contribute to existing team engagements pertaining to community solar, distributed generation, and utility-scale renewables.
9. Manage and mentor junior team members, fostering their professional growth and maximizing their contributions.
10. Partner with external consultants to deliver best-in-class advisory services.

What You'll Need:

1. Authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future.
2. 8+ years of experience in the energy or renewables industries with 3+ years experience working specifically with BESS.
3. Proven experience in energy, business development, and commercial structuring.
4. Strong understanding of energy markets and sustainability initiatives.
5. High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
6. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation: The minimum salary for the Director, Battery Energy Storage Systems position is $170,000 annually and the maximum salary is $220,000 annually. The compensation offered will depend on skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE's applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
