RMA's team is growing, and we have opportunities for staff to project level engineers to perform and oversee field inspections and observations for commercial, industrial, and transportation related construction projects. This role will be working out of our Earth Engineers Division in Aiea, Hawaii.

Duties:

You will be expected to:

  • Interpret project plans and specifications for compliance with projects requirements
  • Prepare and submit written field reports summarizing daily activities/observations and results
  • Monitor work procedures for compliance with project specifications
  • Interact with client representative (supervisors, foremen, project managers, engineers, etc.) at project sites
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Complete deep foundation inspections, including:
    • Inspection of pile driving and drilling operations
    • Verifying element materials, sizes and lengths, placement locations and plumbness, type and size of hammer, record number of blows per foot of penetration, record tip and butt elevations and document any damage to foundation element.
    • Prepare daily reports and pile driving logs
  • Supervise and assist with the Special Inspection and testing program for deep foundation systems and other earthwork operations.
  • Assist in reviewing and maintaining documentation including daily reports, pile driving logs, test reports, submittals and closeout packages.
Education/Qualifications:

The following minimum requirements apply to this position:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geology, or related fields (with geotechnical engineering and/or engineering geology coursework)
  • Minimum 2 years' experience with deep foundations (steel pipe piles, steel sheet piles, steel H-piles, precast/prestressed concrete piles, auger cast-in-place piles, drilled concrete piers and shafts, secant piles, stone columns, predrilling, load testing)
  • U.S. Citizenship or legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work on federal military installation sites
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must pass background check, and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Certifications/Licenses:

At least one of the following requirements must be met for this position:
  • NICET Soils Technician Level II Certificate in Construction Material Testing
  • Geologist-In-Training or Engineer-In-Training with three years of related experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer with related experience


Pay range $ 77,000.00 to $ 87,000.00 per year
