Founded in 1921, Straub Medical Center includes a 159-bed hospital in Honolulu, a network of neighborhood clinics and a visiting specialist program that reaches throughout the state of Hawai'i. With over 200 physicians who are leaders in their fields, Straub provides its patients with diagnoses and treatments for more than 32 different medical specialties, including bone and joint, heart, cancer, endocrinology/diabetes, family medicine, gastroenterology, geriatric medicine, internal medicine, vascular and urology. Straub is home to the Pacific Region's only multidisciplinary burn treatment center. The hospital consistently brings new technologies and innovative medical practices to Hawai'i, such as minimally invasive cardiac surgery and total joint replacement.

The Emergency Room department at Straub includes 13 treatment areas that attend to approximately 60 to 80 patients per day, for issues ranging from cardiac or surgical care to acute injuries. Patients can go to any emergency room in Hawai'i, but many chose Straub for its service excellence and longstanding commitment to providing the best quality care. The independent national hospital rating service HealthGrades.com has rated Straub as #1 in the treatment of stroke, heart attack, angioplasty, heart by-pass surgery and respiratory infection.

As the Patient Care Specialist, you will greet and acknowledge all patients in a friendly and professional manner upon arrival at the Emergency Department. You will assist Emergency Department staff by facilitating communication with patients and their visitors. You will provide immediate and responsive customer service to enhance a positive experience for patients and their visitors. In this role, you will handle any issues that may arise and provide solutions or make referrals to the appropriate person(s) for resolution. You will also assist the Emergency Department with various transport needs to support efficient patient care.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Six (6) months experience in customer service.

Preferred Qualifications: Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR card. One (1) year of customer service experience in hospitality preferred. One (1) year health care related experience as a transporter or messenger preferred.

Rate of pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors including knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant experience and training, as well as internal peer equity.
