IT SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR
The basic function of the IT Systems Administrator is to provide first-line technical support for Alaka`i Mechanical Corporation's computing infrastructure.
This position reports to the IT Manager.
Essential Job Functions:
Manage all support calls. Provide 24/7 technical support for all internal technology based hardware and software.
Manage all software. This includes (but is not limited to) the installation, patching, programming, or removing of operating systems, applications, databases, etc.
Manage all hardware. This includes (but is not limited to) creating and maintaining documentation related to network infrastructure, server specifications, applications, process flows, etc.
Help support all IT vendor relationships.
Manage all users. This includes (but is not limited to) creating, managing or removing user accounts and accesses.
Manage IT related business projects. Work closely with stakeholders to ensure IT projects are completed in a cost effective and timely manner.
Provides user assistance. Answers users questions, provides assistance and training when needed.
Makes recommendations regarding changes to the user system environments.
Performs duties and functions as directed by IT Manager.
Education and Experience: An Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school plus a minimum of two years experience in the Information Systems field; or a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college/university in computer science or related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Able to read, analyze, interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations. Able to write reports, business correspondence, procedures manuals, etc. Able to effectively communicate, present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and the general public.
Other skills and abilities: Require more than basic knowledge and operation of PC systems, software systems and some mainframe systems.
Must understand installation, configuration and troubleshooting processes for software, hardware, networking and accessory equipment.
Requires experience with personal computer equipment, LAN and WAN networking and knowledge of assembling and disassembling PC components including cabling. Alaka`i Mechanical's current systems include: Windows Infrastructure; NETGEAR; Cisco Systems; Switches, Cisco VOIP, etc.
Work days and hours: The workdays are primarily Monday-Fridays. However, coming into work on holidays and at least 2-3 weekends per month is necessary to perform updates on the system. This position requires the individual to be on call 24/7.
