Graduate Medical Education Supervisor

Description:

The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Supervisor oversees the administrative of Kaiser Permanente Hawaii residency programs. This position works closely with GME leadership, faculty, residents, and staff to ensure a high-quality educational environment and continuous compliance with ACGME accreditation standards. The Supervisor collaborates with the Program Director and GME leadership to define program needs and exercises independent judgment in managing tasks and directing administrative support staff.

JOB DUTIES

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations and logistics for the program.
  • Oversee accreditation-related activities, including documentation, site visit preparation, and updates to ACGME.
  • Lead resident recruitment, selection, hiring, onboarding, and offboarding processes.
  • Manage duty hours, payroll, leaves, board exam eligibility, licensing, and scheduling requirements.
  • Support the Program Evaluation Committee; coordinate and support curriculum updates, rotation goals, and educational objectives for residents and faculty.
  • Support the Graduate Medical Education Committee in partnership with institutional GME partners.
  • Manage completion and tracking of ACGME-required evaluations for residents, faculty, and programs; maintain evaluation portfolios.
  • Serve as liaison to ACGME, external faculty, Hawaii-based GME programs, and other Kaiser Permanente GME programs.
  • Monitor resident attendance and progress toward promotion and graduation; support Clinical Competency Committee operations.
  • Organize and support GME-related meetings, Program Director sessions, and annual residency events.
  • Lead logistics for faculty development programs, including speaker coordination and attendee engagement.
  • Manage residency program budgets and fiscal transactions, and ensure timely processing of invoices and financial documentation.
  • Contribute to vision setting for continued growth of GME within program(s) and the institution.
  • Train staff on ACGME accreditation standards and processes to ensure consistent compliance.
  • Develop and lead high-performing teams in a hybrid work environment, fostering collaboration and accountability.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive culture through empathetic leadership and effective meeting facilitation.
  • Provide mentorship, performance feedback, and professional development support to staff; champion innovation and continuous improvement.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in education, business, healthcare, or related field
  • 3-5 years of experience in residency program administration
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in GME administration
  • Knowledge of ACGME institutional, specialty, and common program requirements
  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and respond accurately to time-sensitive requests
  • Strong diplomacy, rapid learning ability, and political savvy
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education (TAGME) Certification
  • Prior experience with poster presentation, abstract submission, or publication related to Graduate Medical Education

The salary range for this position starts at $ 91,712. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications.
