HR Generalist I - Labor Relations

Position at Hawaiian Telcom. Strategic partner with people at all levels, interacts with Union officials and external parties such as government investigators or compliance specialists. Primary responsibility for facilitating resolution of labor contract administration issues, interpreting laws and regulations, implementing solutions, and managing EEO and diversity efforts.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate with HR Manager to direct and monitor conflict resolution process.
  • Support management team on day‑to‑day contract administration.
  • Ensure corporate compliance with all facets of labor‑employeelaw.
  • Support management team on union relations issues.
  • Prepare for and assist in collective bargaining negotiations.
  • Manage legal enforcement proceedings and litigation with internal or external counsel as needed.
  • Develop and direct the PVA measurement process.
  • Monitor and improve effectiveness of PVA process and integrate PVA in planning initiatives.
  • Continuously evaluate best practices on PVA and refine process as needed.

Experience

  • 1 to 3 years in related field.

Education

  • Four years of college resulting in a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent.

Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses

  • Valid driver's license.

Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience in contract negotiations and administration.
  • Experience in conflict resolution strategies and practice, including grievance and arbitration proceedings.
  • Experience in interest‑based problem solving.
  • Background in EEO and organizational design preferred.
  • Experience in employee communications preferred.
  • Background in labor relations.
  • Broad knowledge of functional disciplines within the company.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of and experience in EEO administration and compliance.
  • Keen understanding of functional areas of the company and their interdependency.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

May require travel to various locations throughout the State of Hawaii.

Salary Range

$60,000 - $84,000
