Regular, Full-Time, Limited-Term (not to exceed twelve (12) months in duration from date of hire), RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii at Manoa, College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resilience (CTAHR), Department of Plant and Environmental Protection Sciences (PEPS), located in Honolulu, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. MONTHLY SALARY: $3,334/Mon.
DUTIES:
PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in agriculture, biology, entomology, plant pathology, weed science, or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Up to one (0-1) year of experience in pest management research.
KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques used in crop production.
ABILITIES AND SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and communicate effectively in a variety of situations. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals. Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Must possess a valid drivers license (and if use of personal vehicle on the job is required, must also have valid personal drivers insurance equivalent to Hawaiis No-Fault Drivers Insurance) and maintain throughout the duration of employment.
Post Offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to obtain State of Hawaii Certification for Application of Restricted Use Pesticides license, Category 10, Demonstration, Research and Instructional Pest Control, within six (6) months from date of hire and maintain throughout duration of employment. Must complete the online Hazard Communication training immediately after hire or no later than employees initial exposure to hazardous chemicals.
PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to travel to neighbor islands for one to two (1-2) day periods to conduct pesticide efficacy and residue trials at Research Stations or cooperators fields. Must be able to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
