Description:

We are seeking a Senior Technical Writer with a deep understanding of DoD technology to support experimentation projects in Hawaii. The candidate will produce high-quality, classified documentation for complex defense systems, ensuring clarity, compliance, and alignment with DoD standards. This role requires an active TOP SECRET clearance and expertise in translating advanced technical concepts for diverse stakeholders in a secure environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Author, edit, and maintain technical documentation, including reports, user manuals, white papers, SOPs, and briefings for DoD experimentation projects (e.g., C5ISR, AI, cyber, or autonomous systems).
  • Translate complex DoD technologies and experimentation outcomes into clear, concise content for military leaders, engineers, and policymakers.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, systems engineers, and program managers to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with DoD classification guidelines.
  • Develop visual aids, diagrams, and presentations to support high-level DoD reviews and technology demonstrations.
  • Ensure documentation adheres to military standards (e.g., MIL-STD, FAR) and security protocols for classified environments.
  • Manage document version control and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced, secure setting.
  • Provide senior-level insights to improve documentation processes and support project objectives.

Requirements

This position is fully onsite and requires work to be performed at Camp H. M. Smith, Hawaii. Remote work is not available for this role.

Necessary Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Engineering, or a related field (master's degree preferred).
  • 7+ years of technical writing experience, with at least 4 years supporting DoD or government projects.
  • Demonstrated senior level understanding of DoD technologies (e.g., C5ISR, sensor systems, or emerging capabilities).
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and documentation tools.
  • Experience with military terminology, DoD standards, and handling classified information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a secure, high-pressure environment.
  • Must have an active U.S. government Top Secret security clearance (TS/SCI preferred).
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Beneficial Skills and Experience

  • Experience with DoD experimentation, prototyping, or technology demonstration projects in Hawaii or INDOPACOM.
  • Knowledge of configuration management, systems engineering, or defense acquisition processes.
  • Familiarity with creating documentation for Joint Exercises or operational.

Salary range

$145,000 - $155,000 USD
