WAI works on a number of private and federally funded grants and initiatives as technical assistance providers, including community-based water quality programs, workforce development, and innovative technology projects. This role will directly support this variety of diverse programs and initiatives.Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated Financial Administrator to join our growing team. This role involves managing financial operations, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, processing payroll, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in financial management, exceptional attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.Key Responsibilities:● Oversee day-to-day accounting operations (accounts payable/receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, invoicing, etc.), working closely with the company's accounting and project teams.● Administer payroll, employee benefits, track PTO and maintain employee records. ● Ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations and internal policies.● Help prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and federal grant reports.● Assist in company budget preparation and monitor expenditures against budget.● Support the company's annual single audit preparation, execution, and follow-up with external auditors and tax advisors.● Manage federal and state tax filings.● Implement financial policies and procedures and improve existing processes.Requirements:● Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a relevant field.● Experience as a Bookkeeper, Financial Administrator, Financial Officer or similar role.● Knowledge of federal compliance.● Proficient in MS Office, Google Sheets and finance software.● Located in Hawaiʻi or HST time zone preferred.Preferred Qualifications:● Federal grant reporting and management experience including monthly technical reporting and invoicing.● Experience with fringe rate reconciliation, negotiated indirect costs agreement (NICRA)● Experience in nonprofit organizational management work; knowledge and experience in water or wastewater-related work desired.Compensation and Benefits:This position offers a part-time role and a competitive hourly rate of $35-$45, with the possibility of moving to full-time.
